Report on water
Thursday, November 4, 2010

Recently, a team of researchers at the Ohio Science Faculty (Chemistry Section 3A) made a startling discovery: the water the general public bathe in daily (almost) is actually harmful. First, the concept how water is purified shall be explained. The water (usually waste from the toilet) is sent to water purification towers and go through the first stage in purification, coagulation. In this process Aluminium Sulphate (commonly known as Alum) is added to the water, to make most of the minute suspended solids in the embrace to form larger clumps, which would be easier to remove. Calcium Hydroxide is also added to remove metal ions. The next stages are sedimentation and filtration, both which do not involve the addition of chemicals. Next is the addition of Chlorine, to kill the remaining bacteria, then the addition of Calcium Fluoride, to protect our teeth from decay.

What many do not know, is that Alum, Calcium Hydroxide, Chlorine and Calcium Fluoride, are actually bad for us. Each chemical shall be analysed one by one. Alum, contains Aluminium, which is the stuff Aluminium foil is made of (pretty obvious there) and Sulphur, which is part of the cause of acid rain. Together, the compound formed is soluble in water and nonpolar. Thus the water molecules bind to it, and when water is absorbed into the skin (via Osmosis), the Alum particles tag along. Research has shown that Alum causes the skin to peel easily and give a slightly dull look. This is as the Alum binds to the skin cells after entering with the water molecules and ‘cloaks’ the cells to give it the colour of aluminium foil, and as it contains Sulphur, a layer of the Phospholipid Bilayer (which makes up the cell membrane) is corroded away, making the skin cells, and thus the skin, weaker and easier to be peeled away.

Calcium Hydroxide, also known as limewater, is commonly noted for producing a white precipitate (insoluble substance) after reacting with Carbon Dioxide. The reason for this reaction is insignificant and can be searched online. As it is a hydroxide, it is soluble in water and like Alum, is able to enter the body with the water molecules. However instead of binding to the skin cells, Calcium Hydroxide particles hijack red blood cells, especially those carrying Carbon Dioxide. Thus after reacting with the Carbon Dioxide the blood cell is carrying, a precipitate is formed on the blood cell. What researchers found out, is that this precipitate is toxic to the cell and causes the cell to die faster. Thus there would be less blood in the body which means less Oxygen gets transported to the brain. Hence one would tire easily and experience a lack of breath when doing strenuous activities.

Chlorine gas bleaches moist litmus paper, and is also found in Bleach. As one bathes in the purified water, the skins is exposed to a great amount of Chlorine (approx. 2 Chlorine molecules for every 3 water molecules) and thus after long periods, one’s skin would be slightly bleached. Researchers discovered for a person’s skin to be bleached the colour of white paper, the skin has to be under a continuous flow of water for at least about 69.42 hours at a rate of 3.142 l/min. The being whose skin was bleached was unconscious at time of experiment (and still is) thus is unable to comment or disagree to any further experiment carried out on him (identity has been verified as male).

Calcium Fluoride is soluble and thus is able to enter the body with the water molecules. Once in the body, the Calcium Fluoride would react with the Potassium in the body. The Calcium would be displaced and replaced by the Potassium. Thus, Potassium Fluoride is formed. This means the body gets Calcium, which is good. But as Potassium is the most reactive Alkali metal and Fluorine is the most reactive Halogen, the compound is very reactive and is an Alkali too. The compound travels to the stomach, where it neutralises the stomach acids. Hence there is less acid to digest the food in the stomach, and this causes indigestion.

Many are appalled by the discovery of this team of researchers. As a tremendous amount of people would be affected, the researchers are not keen on announcing this to the world, thus only have one piece of advice to whoever reads this: do not bathe, or use the water from the shower, tap or other relevant water bodies in any way (unless good is not intended).

YES THIS REPORT IS OBVIOUSLY FAKE. I think. Haven't verified the rubbish I typed;
Maybe true LOL I dunno? Hmmm sets one thinking. I thought of this in the shower LOL.

Shopped with PY today at Bugis and Jurong Point, time passed super slowly!
In less than 3hrs we walked the street shopping twice and went round the buildings a few times.
Including me taking a really long time trying clothes on. Haha bought stuff too;
Dorothy Perkins skinnies for $39, hoodie from the street shopping for $17;
Bagpack for $30 (PY's was less than $20...) and blahblahs. PY bought so little;
Then go home tell me regret didnt buy more. LOL. Eep. Not much to do after exams.
Maybe do my CAP portfolio. Just that I dunno how improve and need inspiration.
