The internet, of course, has been operating freely and without any real government censorship for roughly two decades. In that time, it has grown to be what is arguably the most influential medium in the world for information distribution. Most importantly, the internet is the medium of information freedom that is not controlled by any government.

The U.S. government wants to change all that, and they’ve dispatched the FCC to reign in the “freedoms” of the internet.

How to crush internet Free Speech
The first step to the FCC’s crushing of internet freedom is to assert authority over the internet by claiming to run the show. The FCC, of course, has no legal authority over the internet. It was only granted authority in 1934 over broadcast communications in the electromagnetic spectrum — you know, radio waves and antennas, that kind of thing.

So instead of following the law, the FCC is trying to “fake” its way into false authority over the internet by claiming authority in the current “net neutrality” debate. By asserting its authority with net neutrality, the FCC will establish a beachhead of implied authority from which it can begin to control and censor the internet.

I think "net neutrality" refers to the lack of ppl in control over internet?

First, the FCC will simply ban what it calls “information traitors,” which will include people like Julian Assange (Wikileaks) who publish state secrets. (Technically Julian Assange can’t be a traitor since he’s not even American in the first place, but don’t expect the FCC to care about this distinction.)

Once the public is comfortable with that, the FCC will advance its agenda to include “information terrorists” which will include anything posted about Ron Paul, the federal reserve and the counterfeit money supply, G. Edward Griffin, or anything from true U.S. patriots who defend the Constitution. The anti-state website www.LewRockwell.com (where some of my own articles have appeared from time to time) would also be immediately banned because its information is so dangerous to government control.

After that censorship is in place, the FCC will likely begin to push the corporate agenda by banning websites that harm the profits of large corporations. This will include, of course, websites like NaturalNews.com which teach people about health freedom, nutritional cures, natural remedies and alternatives to Big Pharma’s high-profit pharmaceuticals.

Essentially, once the FCC has gained power and authority over the internet, it will use that power to push a Big Government / Big Business agenda that censors the truth, keeps people trapped in a system of disinformation, and silences anyone who challenges the status quo.

If there’s one thing governments hate, it’s real freedom. Sure, they all talk about freedom and publicly claim their allegiance to it, but behind the scenes what they really want is total information control. That’s because freedom gives people the ability to say what they want, to whomever they want, and even to oppose the doctrine of the government.

Hmmm, very interesting article. This whole Wikileaks situation is fascinating. The rape allegations against Julian Assange could very well be made up. Maybe if he gets extradited to Sweden, the authorities will torture him into giving up the password to the rest of his government docs. Most people wouldn’t think torture when they think of Sweden. It’s the perfect cover. And people find sex crimes so offensive, also a good way to destroy his public image. My gut says Assange is not the bad guy here. The government (and the folks who control it) can be secretive and ruthless. No telling what’s gonna happen to this guy. And, no doubt they’ll use this case to try to censor the internet. I’ll be watching…and reading between the lines.

this morning on the early show they were talking about executing assange. it’s strange how child rapists and murderers get only 18 years in some areas but they wanna execute the founder of wikileaks….things that make you go “hmmm”

If Wikileaks is the last straw..to say..for the governments to go ahead and fully regulate internet freedoms the first question that comes to mind is… WHO IS JULIAN ASSANGE??

It’s very confusing to say the least…Julian and his orginzation is the most talked subject in the world today..all over newspapers worldwide….all for doing the impossible..leaking top secret US intelligence without any problems.

I truly believe that Julian Assange and his Wikileaks organization is not a independant patriot group without an agenda. I think Wikileaks is a self exposure operation by CIA and a GLOBAL PSY-OP…instead of watching it on TV like 9/11 we are reading it through major newspapers…NEW YORK TIMES…THE GURADIAN…LE MONDE ….is there not something odd about all this??

Internet is the only means of free speech now; If its taken away, we're pretty much doomed ya know. It'll be easier to be controlled. It's not so much that WikiLeaks concern me, or you. But the implications. If Assange is good (not on gov side) and goes to jail. The supporters of WikiLeaks would just hv to jiayou and keep the site going. More mirrors, more releases, hope that when he comes out (if ever), the site's still up. If Assange is good, and does not go to jail. Hope FCC doesnt take control. Hope the public unites against the government. And use brains. I'm less interested in the WikiLeaks articles on the war and diplo ties; More on policies. Like human rights, our food, medication, health etcetc. If Assange is bad. (and everything's an act) We've been tricked then. Not very likely, but possible. 90% of the info may be true; But its the other 10% that poison. I think one of the comments mentioned this. This kinda explains how he got the Cables and stuff so easily. More and more stuff on the gov screwing us up purposely is surfacing. Not only the gov, but the New World Order too. Ppl with powerlust definitely. These are indeed obstacles (a lot mentioned in Vigilant Citizen) Now if we cant solve these, how are we gonna solve physical issues?
